Language Matters is a one-day conference and collaborative learning opportunity on October 22, with a focus on language and linguistic equity in Metro Public Schools. This free conference is provided for MNPS educators and leaders by the Volunteer State Seal of Biliteracy in collaboration with PENCIL Foundation, the Tennessee Language Center, and Metro Nashville Public Schools.
All educators who are invested in culturally sustaining practices that prepare our graduates for a global workforce are welcome to attend and to lead breakout sessions- counselors, World Language teachers, Multilingual Learner teachers, Principals, Department Leads, Academy and Instructional Coaches, and any other middle or high school educators who want to learn more about the Seal of Biliteracy and explore ways to expand home language supports, equitable classroom practices, and authentic pedagogies are welcome. There will be time to plan with role-alike attendees and food will be provided.
